Fundraising has become a critical part of how schools, teams, and community groups make ends meet. From uniforms and instruments to travel costs and classroom supplies, many organizations rely on community support to fill the gaps left by limited budgets.

Between February 2024 and August 2025, we tracked and anonymized 1,346 unique fundraising requests submitted across the United States. By analyzing this data, we can see where the need is greatest and which types of groups depend most on fundraising.

The results highlight not only the diversity of organizations seeking help — from nonprofits to schools and sports teams — but also the geographic spread of demand across different states.

5 Types of Groups That Need Funding Most

Across the 1,346 fundraising requests we analyzed, five types of organizations stood out:

  1. Nonprofit Organizations: 460 requests (34.2%)
  2. Schools: 357 requests (26.5%)
  3. Sports Teams: 273 requests (20.3%)
  4. Other: 151 requests (11.2%)
