Kirby Sibiski grew up in Kutztown, a small Pennsylvania college town where soccer was at the center of his life. His parents, who both worked two jobs for much of his childhood, always found a way to cover the costs of uniforms, travel, and gear. Their sacrifices taught him the value of community support and planted the first seeds for what would later become We Raise Together.
In college, Kirby interned with Research for Action and saw firsthand the impact that after-school programs could have on young people. The challenge was always the same: funding. Programs that were changing lives often disappeared once temporary grants ended, leaving students and families without consistent support.
After graduation, Kirby returned to his hometown to coach his middle school soccer team for two years. The experience deepened his belief in the importance of youth programs—but it also revealed how fragile they are, with low pay for coaches and limited resources for kids.
Following a period of personal struggle, Kirby took a job at Gifts N’ Things, a local fundraising company. What started as a practical choice soon became a turning point. He learned how the fundraising business worked—and more importantly, how it could be improved.
Facing nearly $800 in monthly student loan payments, Kirby knew he needed to create new opportunities for himself. He started a freelance SEO, writing, and editing business, using his skills to help organizations get discovered online. From there, he applied those skills to the fundraising world with one belief: good SEO isn’t about gaming algorithms, it’s about connecting people with the solutions they’re searching for.
A few months later, Kirby moved to North Philadelphia, where he saw the effects of long-term divestment etched into entire neighborhoods. That experience brought his journey full circle—confirming that sustainable funding isn’t just about supporting individual programs, but about strengthening communities themselves.
